Skol Brewing Company has opened in downtown Atlanta with Viking-themed brews and a menu featuring Minnesota specialties.

Skol comes from Atlanta-based hospitality group 200 Peachtree Group and is located at 155 Carnegie Way inside the 200 Peachtree Street building. Valhalla Social, an “eatertainment” concept set to open above Skol, is on hold for the moment with a tentative opening in 2026 before the World Cup, said Drew Tull, president and managing partner of 200 Peachtree Group.

In the meantime, the brewpub has partnered with American Axes for ax throwing in a space adjacent to the restaurant, and Skol offers free games like Skee-Ball, foosball, darts and shuffleboard.

The menu was developed by chef Rich Rosendale, who also oversees culinary operations for Rosendale Events and Southern Exchange Ballrooms, which are both 200 Peachtree Group concepts. Expect classic pub food like onion rings, fried pickles, soft pretzels, chicken tenders, nachos and several burgers.

The restaurant also bears a distinct Minnesota influence, from the Viking motif to the brewpub’s name, which is a Scandinavian word meaning “cheers” and the fight song for the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.

Tull, who’s from Minnesota, wanted the menu to feature some of his favorite Midwest dishes. Notable mentions include the “Jucy Lucy” burger, intentionally misspelled to reference the original in Minnesota, which features two beef patties stuffed with American cheese and topped with grilled onions and pickles, and the smoked brisket poutine, which features Rosendale’s 18-hour smoked brisket and Ellsworth Creamery cheese curds from Wisconsin.

Skol will be contract brewing its beer with Arches Brewing in Hapeville, with Skol providing its recipes for Arches to produce. Contract brewing allows Skol to offer a full bar without having to produce its own spirits. The brewpub will offer wine, cocktails, beer from other breweries, mead, cider and a rotating selection of Skol’s brews.

Five Skol beers will be on tap opening week, including Northern Lights, a light American lager, Space Wrangler, a hazy IPA, Uff Da, a double IPA, and 3rd Degree Burns, a porter. Six packs will be available for purchase from the brewpub in the coming weeks.

The 5,000-square-foot space has 124 seats with plenty of TVs, wood floors, exposed ceilings, antler chandeliers, a backlit bar and a mix of high and low tables and couches. Nordic paraphernalia on the walls contribute to a brewpub that feels “almost like a north woods” cabin, Tull said.

Tull said he’s excited to see the development happening in South Downtown near Skol’s location, especially as Atlanta is preparing to host the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 20, several 2026 World Cup matches and the Super Bowl in 2028. Investment group Atlanta Ventures purchased 10 blocks of South Downtown with plans to turn it into a hub featuring retail, offices, housing and restaurants, beginning with the startup incubator Atlanta Tech Village that recently opened in the former Sylvan Hotel.

“We’re just trying to be right in the middle of it since we’re right on Peachtree,” Tull said. “We’re trying to make sure we’re that fun place to go to for everybody.”

Skol Brewing Company is open 4-10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and noon-10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, with the potential to stay open later for sporting events and watch parties.
