Latin coastal restaurant Madre Selva has opened in the Uptown Atlanta mixed-use development near the Lindbergh MARTA station.

Located at 570 Main St., the eatery comes from Juan Segura and Francisco Puerta and features Peruvian and Nikkei cuisines, the latter of which fuses traditional Peruvian and Japanese ingredients and techniques.

Expect menu items like salmon carretillero with grilled salmon, Peruvian corn, potatoes and a rocoto carretillero sauce; a cauliflower porterhouse marinated in aji amarillo sauce and served with chimichurri; lomo saltado, a classic Peruvian dish with stir-fried beef, onion and tomatoes mixed with Peruvian potatoes and white rice; and a ceviche bar.

The bar program will focus on pisco, a Peruvian spirit distilled from grapes, with cocktails like a pisco sour (pisco, lime juice, simple syrup and egg white) and a chilcano (pisco, lime juice, ginger ale and bitters). Others include Andean Night (bourbon, Peruvian black corn and Cointreau) and Echoes of Chavin (tequila, herbal kombucha and sage).

The eatery seats 150 guests including on a patio set to open in early spring. The design pays tribute to the Amazon jungle with custom-made chairs, tables and lamps from South America and plates painted by local artists.

Madre Selva joins several food and beverage concepts located on Main Street in Uptown Atlanta, including 26 Thai Kitchen & Bar, Bene Korean Steakhouse, Mexican restaurant El Gordo, J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen and Uptown Test Kitchen, which is managed by Chow À La Carte and features global menus from a rotating list of Atlanta-based chefs. Korean bakery and cafe White Windmill is set to open early next year.

Uptown Atlanta, a 47-acred mixed-use development, is undergoing redevelopment by Rubenstein Partners and includes nearly 1 million square feet of office space and 120,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The development will also be connected to pedestrian trails including Path 400, the South Fork Trail and the Beltline.

Madre Selva is open 5-10 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays.
