After two weeks of near-continuous cloud cover and inches of rain, North Georgia should get some sun this weekend.
Although clouds were blocking the sun Saturday morning, they were expected to clear.
“Something to look forward to,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said Saturday morning. “Sunshine returning”
According to Channel 2, more than 14 inches of rain have fallen across North Georgia since Dec. 1. Nearly an inch-and-a-half fell Friday alone, Channel 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
In fact, Burns is predicting a string of dry days to come. Rain should stay away Saturday, Sunday and most of next week, according to Channel 2.
By noon Saturday, temperatures are expected to warm to 52 before topping out at a projected high of 56 degrees. It hit 66 in Atlanta on Friday.
“Although cooler than (Friday), that’s still well above average for this time of year,” Burns said. The average high is 52 degrees.

Temperatures drop into the 40s overnight.
Sunday should see more sunshine with highs in the mid-60s, according to Channel 2.

The dry conditions should work in favor of Georgia Department of Transportation construction projects scheduled this weekend.
GDOT is expected to close three northbound lanes on Glenridge Drive in Fulton County each night Saturday through Monday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Northbound traffic will be detoured onto Johnson Ferry Road during the roadwork. One southbound lane will remain open.
The closures will allow crews to relocate a utility, according to GDOT.
