Things might get wet around metro Atlanta on Saturday, particularly in the morning. But the weather is looking good for Sunday.

“Mother’s Day is looking phenomenal across North Georgia,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said, “with lots of sunshine and low humidity.” Sunday’s high is expected to hit 84 degrees.

However, there’s a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday.

“That chance (of showers) will gradually diminish throughout the day,” Monahan said.

Monahan called Sunday a “transition day,” meaning that warmer temperatures are expected next week. Highs are forecast at 88 on Monday and Tuesday.

About 5:30 p.m., temps were at 77 in Atlanta, 79 in Griffin and 72 in Blairsville.

Showers possible Saturday evening
