Still dealing with itchy eyes and runny noses?
That’s because today’s pollen count — 5,354 particles per cubic meter of air — is the highest since April 9, 2015, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.
The figure eclipses Wednesday’s high of 5,098, last year’s season high of 3,559 and the 2016 season high of 4,106.
“The extremely high pollen count that is sustained for several days is somewhat unusual," said Dr. Stanley Fineman of Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. “We haven’t had this situation since the 2015 spring season.”

Because allergy patients are prone to increased symptoms because of the pollen, “it is helpful to see an allergist, determine your allergic sensitivities and follow a proper management plan,” Fineman said.
And if the latest forecast sticks, the pollen count could continue to rise. The highest pollen count over the past decade is 9,369, which was recorded on March 20, 2012.

According to Channel 2, Atlanta could see highs of 77 today, 80 Friday and 78 Saturday.
Because of those temperatures, trees and other plants are releasing excessive pollen, officials said.
