Temperatures in Atlanta are expected to drop into the mid-60s and winds up to 20 mph will only add to the cold weather, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Winds should calm about 11 p.m., but expect to wake up to 50-degree weather Friday.

Just before 7:20 p.m., temperatures in Atlanta were at 71 degrees. The city reached the expected high of 72 about 4 p.m. That’s well below the average high for this time of year of 82, Channel 2 reported.

The good news is area drizzle is gone following North Georgia storms a day earlier. The National Weather Service was surveying storm damage in North Georgia.

But in metro Atlanta, the damage was minimal.

Expect rain chances to increase through the Memorial Day weekend with a 20 percent chance Saturday, a 30 percent chance Sunday and a 40 percent chance Monday. Temps should remain in the 80s.
