Dubbed the “Home of the Brick,” the LEGO House is a must-visit for LEGO fans of all ages.

The first LEGO brick was created 90 years ago in Billund, Denmark. The city now hosts a 129,166 square foot facility built to look like 21 giant LEGO bricks. The house was created by third-generation LEGO owner Kjed Kirk Kristiansen, who is the chairman of the LEGO Group.

The house is filled with about 25 million LEGO bricks with plenty of space for LEGO fans to take pictures, geek out and build. To build a building perfect for the LEGO brand, Kirstiansen turned to a world-class architect who just happened to be a big LEGO fan himself.

Danish designer Bjarke Ingles and his BIG firm happily took on the project, which took a little over four years to finish. The house first opened its doors in 2017 and receives visits from over 250,000 fans a year.

“If BIG had been founded with the purpose of building just one building, this was going to be the building,” Ingels told USA TODAY.

LEGO House has nine rooftop terraces, playgrounds, craft centers, a museum of new and historic LEGO, eateries served by LEGO robots and more. Planning your trip in advance is highly recommended.

From getting tickets to free events, day passes, annual passes and a combination package for LEGO House and LEGOLAND (which happens to be located close by), there’s a ticket for every occasion.

While leaving the venue, you even get to take a little piece of LEGO home with you. The LEGO House gives every guest a small token of its appreciation — a small bag of LEGO bricks.
