New cruise ships for Atlanta travelers to consider

CRUISES HELP you stretch your travel dollar. For a set price, your vacation includes meals and some activities. Here are some new cruise ships that you may want to consider:

ROYAL CARIBBEAN OASIS of the SEAS (2009). With accommodations for 5,400 passengers, Oasis is the largest passenger vessel ever. It has seven "neighborhoods." Its early voyages are scheduled for December from Fort Lauderdale.

OASIS of the SEAS features a "Central Park" with real grass and trees.

THE OASIS has 16 decks. It will sail to Caribbean destinations.

HOLLAND AMERICA EURODAM (2008). This ship holds 2,104 people; 86 percent of the cabins are exterior cabins, and 67 percent have balconies. It leaves Fort Lauderdale for the Caribbean and Europe.

CELEBRITY SOLSTICE (2008). Celebrity's first "Solstice" class ship holds 2,850 passengers and has a lawn. It leaves Fort Lauderdale for Eastern Caribbean, Eastern Mediterranean and other destinations. Four more Solstice-class ships will enter service starting next year.

COSTA LUMINOSA (2009). An Italian line that's also part of the Carnival family, Costa's Luminosa departs from Venice for Mediterranean ports. It has a huge spa, a Grand Prix race-car simulator and an 18-hole golf course simulator.

COSTA PACIFICA (2009). The Pacifica will be the largest ship in Costa's fleet, with a musical theme. Its Mediterranean cruises leave from Civitavecchia near Rome. This is Pacifica's disco.

CARNIVAL DREAM (2008). The Dream is the cruise line's biggest ship yet. It will have a water park and a 2-deck mini golf course. After several European cruises, it will dock out of Port Canaveral, Fla., in late 2009, when it will sail the Eastern Caribbean.

AIDALUNA (2009). The Germany-based Aida line sails to the Mediterranean, northern Europe, the Arabian Gulf and the Canary Islands, among other destinations. It targets a young, active traveler and features a colorful, modern decor.

DISNEY DREAM (2011), FANTASY (2012). No itineraries have been announced for the long-awaited ships, but they are expected to dock at Port Canaveral and stop at Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay (pictured).

SEABOURN ODYSSEY (2009). Seabourn's 450-passenger yacht sails on its maiden voyage June 24, leaving Venice for Greece and Turkey.
