Casual Francoeur home reflects couple's unassuming style

Newlyweds Catie and Jeff Francoeur open the doors to their new home in Duluth. It's a 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath house that reflects the Braves outfielder and his wife's down-to-earth style.

Earthy tones warm up the den of the 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home. Catie Francoeur chose taupe and other colors to create a warm, welcome environment.

The kitchen of the Francoeur house. The couple were married on Nov. 3, and though Catie gave herself a couple of weeks to get the house in perfect shape, the holidays and life have left her (like most homeowners) with more work to do.

The refrigerator is filled with photographs and quotes. Catie, who is on leave from teaching at Mill Creek High School, is the word person. She loves to fill the house with meaningful phrases and quotations.

A wine holder in the shape of a baseball player sits next to the a sign in the kitchen: "Home is where your story begins." The house contains references to baseball, but it isn't filled to the brim with sports-themed decor.

An Atlanta Braves-inspired birdhouse in the office is one of the few items that refers to how Jeff Francoeur earns a paycheck.

The majority of Jeff's memorabilia is displayed in his 'man room' upstairs. One favorite is this frame commemorating his first ejection from a major league game, at Petco Park in San Diego.

Another favorite is this base, on which Braves teammate John Smoltz wrote: "On the heels of Rickey Henderson, this base ties you with [Brian] McCann." (Jeff's had only nine stolen bases in three seasons, which for the uninitiated, isn't the Gold Glove winner's best statistic.)

Jeff shows off a jersey signed by New York Yankee Derek Jeter, a prized possession that Jeff got at the World Baseball Classic in 2006.

The master bedroom shows off one of the couple's wedding gifts: a four-poster, king-sized bed from her parents. "It's got one of those Westin Heavenly mattresses," Catie says. "It's hard to get out of in the morning."

Photographs of the newly married couple can be found throughout the house. This collection is in the living room.

Catie looks at a favorite engagement photo on the couple's stacked stone fireplace. The mat was signed by everyone in their wedding party. Unfortunately, the glass is missing after Jeff dropped it. "Jeff has a tendency to break stuff," says Catie.

Jeff and Catie are still settling into their house and the marriage routine, but they are off to a fresh start.
