As President-elect Barack Obama prepares for his new role in the White House, the places he's called home are gearing up for a possible tourism bounce. But if you want to see all the places connected to Obama's life story, you'd need to visit three countries, five time zones and six states.

CHICAGO: As President-elect Barack Obama prepares for his new role in the White House, the places he's called home are gearing up for a possible tourism bounce. Chicago, where he currently lives and where he gave his election night speech in Grant Park, is an obvious choice. But if you want to see all the places connected to Obama's life story, you'd need to visit three countries, five time zones and six states.

KENYA: Any tour of Obama's past should start with his late father's home - the village of Kogelo, Kenya. Although Barack Obama never lived there, members his father's family still reside in the village.

KANSAS: Obama also has roots in Kansas, where his late mother and maternal grandparents are from. On a campaign stop in January, he spoke at the campus of Butler Community College in the town of El Dorado, where his maternal grandfather was born.

HAWAII: Here's the "log cabin" - Obama's childhood home in his birthplace of Honolulu. Obama lived in this 10-story apartment building as a young boy with his grandparents and mother. His grandmother continued to live in the building until her death shortly before Election Day.

INDONESIA: Obama's mother married an Indonesian and in 1967, moved with young Barack to Jakarta. He attended this school, Menteng 1 Elementary, until he moved back to Hawaii when he was ten.

HAWAII: In 1971, the 10-year-old Barack enrolled at the private Punahou School in Honolulu and entered an unfamiliar world of privilege where he initially felt out of place, but eventually prospered.

HAWAII: This past summer, Barack Obama took a break from his campaign to travel to Hawaii with his family. Here, he walks the beach with his daughters Malia, 10, left, and Sasha, 7, in Kailua.

COLUMBIA: After spending two years at Occidental College in Eagle Rock near Los Angeles, Barack Obama transferred to Columbia University in New York in 1981.

HARVARD: Obama was at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Mass. from 1988-91, where he attended classes in Langdell Hall. He was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

CHICAGO: The Obama's present home at 5046 S. Greenwood Ave., in an affluent part of South Side Chicago, is probably the only place you can't visit. A security perimeter now surrounds the home's entire block.

WASHINGTON DC: The security will be even tighter at his next home - 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C.
