As a grandparent in the Atlanta area trying to plan fun times with grandkids, do you sometimes feel like the seasons are passing too quickly? Rest assured even though Halloween sped by and most of autumn so far has been accompanied by summertime temps, there are still organized events celebrating autumn in the ATL.
Here are some awesome fall-themed events to enjoy this week:
School of Rock Woodstock Rock ‘n’ Roll Fall Fest 2024
1-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov, 9, free. Woodstock Arts Event Green, 111 Elm Street, Woodstock.
School of Rock Woodstock emphasizes music lessons from regional band members, and this free, all-ages festival is a chance to see the young bands perform while enjoying autumn scenery and fresh air. The music ranges from pop to rock to funk and R&B, so grandparents may enjoy it as much as the kids.
Look for cookbooks and shirts sold to support vulnerable kids in Cherokee County. And here’s your chance to BYOLC — bring your own lawn chair — if you haven’t gotten those out of the garage in a while.
4th Annual Lawrenceville Harvest Festival
Noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov, 9, free. Lawrenceville Lawn, 210 Luckie Street, Lawrenceville.
Here are some folks still savoring autumn weather and customs. National acts and hometown favorites perform at Harvest Festival. The family-friendly fete also offers arts and crafts and old school games for the kiddos. And surely someone in the group will be up to enter the Pie Eating Contest. Everyone else can nosh on the fall-themed foods available for purchase at the marketplace.
Frazer Fall Fest 2024
2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, $20 adults, free for kids. Cator Woolford Gardens, 1815 South Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, Atlanta.
Don’t forget the little grandkids just because Halloween has come and gone! Especially since they’re probably still wearing their costumes on a daily basis. The Frazer Fall Fest is a major fundraiser for the Frazer Center Parent-Teacher Action Committee and emphasizes play and sensory activities for preschoolers and infants. The music, activities and food are fall-themed, and enjoyable for the youngest members of the extended family and their caregivers. This is a not-to-be missed Sunday Funday opportunity.
