Grandparents in the Atlanta area may remember those fun “Calgon, take me away!” ads, but even grandkids who have never heard of bath salts can benefit from carefree activities with their favorite older family members.

School-agers, particularly teens, may be feeling extra stress about grades, fitting in and crushes, while older folks may be feeling extra pressure from the election cycle. The little ones in the family may not have any issues, but they’re bound to enjoy autumn frolics, too. Offset your stress with one of these options this week:

Historic Banning Mills Crazy Squirrel Aerial Course

8 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, $29.95 ages 4 and up Tier 1; Historic Banning Mills, 205 Horseshoe Dam Road, Whitesburg.

Zipping through the treetops is a wonderful escape, and nonprofit Historic Banning Mills offers experiences at two thrill levels. Tier 1 for those 4 and older attains heights of 4 to 20 feet and lasts about an hour. Tier 2 for those 9 and up takes a couple of hours and involves more daring elements and lines as high as 60 feet off the ground. Kids ages 4-11 must have an adult along on the course, so be prepared to zip yourself. Wheee!

Book online here unless you need same-day reservations, in which case call 770-834-9149.

‘Back to the Future’ at The Battery Atlanta Plaza Green

7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, free admission. The Battery Atlanta Plaza Green, 800 Battery Ave SE, Atlanta.

Part of the ongoing Xfinity movie series that wraps up at the end of November, you can bring an all ages gang and enjoy a fun movie on the big screen. “Back to the Future” features featuring plenty of Boomer references you can explain to the kiddos. Marty’s skateboard and Calvin Klein underware are two cultural references to discuss, as is the DeLorean. The special effects hold up, as does most of the humor, but the most enjoyable part may just be sitting in the open air on comfy blankets and not having to think too hard to enjoy the flick! Note that you can’t bring outside drinks, coolers or any alcohol, so plan to pick up food from one of the vendors available near the lawn.
