Hot diggity dog — today is National Hot Dog Day. The third Wednesday in July every year earns this designation, so mark you calendars.

Did you know Georgia has it’s own style of hot dog? Since the 1950s, Dinglewood Pharmacy in Columbus has served the “scrambled dog.” This is no ordinary wiener on a bun, though. The scrambled dog is cut up and put in chili, then topped with pickles, cheese, oyster crackers and pretty much anything else you like.

If you don’t have plans to drive to Columbus today, you can score some hot deals on hot dogs in the metro Atlanta area.

Circle K: Suns out, buns out at your nearest Circle K, so head over for a fresh hot dog for just $1. The deal runs until July 23 at participating locations.

Nathan’s Famous: If you’re headed to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport today, check to see if Nathan’s Famous is participating in the chain’s deal. If you buy one hot dog, you can get your second one for just a nickel.

Pilot Flying J: Need gas? Head to your closest Pilot Flying J for a free Oscar Meyer hot dog. Just make sure you download their myRewards Plus app to redeem your free frank.

Quik Trip: If QT is closer, get your lunch when you fill up your tank. You can pick up an all beef hot dog for just $1.59 and a second wiener for just $1.
