The White House released a statement Tuesday claiming the Philadelphia Eagles have abounded their fans by previously deciding to send a small delegation to the White House in celebration of the team’s Super Bowl win.

The Eagles planned to visit the White House Tuesday to celebrate the team's first modern era Super Bowl win, but the team was uninvited Monday by the White House with a statement by President Donald Trump who said he was not pleased with the size of the group the Eagles planned to bring.

The White House’s new statement Tuesday expounded on that point saying the number of attendees the Eagles gave the White House shrank significantly since the team accepted the invitation to the traditional ceremony. The statement also blamed the Eagles organization for “lack of good faith” in gathering as many members of the team as possible and rescheduling the event so more players could attend.

“Unfortunately, the Eagles offered to send only a tiny handful of representatives, while making clear that the great majority of players would not attend the event, despite planning to be in D.C. today. In other words, the vast majority of the Eagles team decided to abandon their fans,” the White House statement read in part.

As the President’s statement said Monday evening, the statement detailed the event had been changed to become a celebration of the American flag with performances by the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus.

The White House said the 1,000 Eagles fans who planned on attending the ceremony are still invited to the new one Tuesday.
