Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will not attend the Falcons' mandatory mini-camp Tuesday through Thursday at Flowery Branch in hopes of revising his current contract.

Acknowledging that giving a player a contract extension with several years left on their contract is unlikely, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the Falcons do have some options to convince Jones to show up to minicamp.

“Rarely do teams give full-blown contract extensions with three years left, but there is some wiggle room to do some different things, similar to maybe what the Patriots did with Rob Gronkowski, giving him some incentives to hit, that would be one way of doing it,” Rapoport said on NFL Network Monday.

Jones also did not attend Falcons’ voluntary organized team activities over the past few weeks.

The Falcons released a statement Monday saying the team was aware Jones would not attend the team's mandatory minicamp.
