Atlanta United manager Frank de Boer said on Monday that he will speak to Josef Martinez and decide on Tuesday if the striker will travel to Chicago for Wednesday’s game.

Martinez recently returned from the Copa America in Brazil. He rejoined Atlanta United on Sunday and was one of many players who didn’t participate in Monday’s training session because they were recovering from Saturday’s 2-1 win against Montreal.

Two players who definitely won’t play on Wednesday are Ezequiel Barco and Hector Villalba. Each has sustained ligament injuries in their knees.

Barco recently had an assessment of his knee. De Boer said he has yet to speak to the medical staff about the results. He said he didn’t know if Barco would be available for Sunday’s game against New York Red Bulls.

Barco, 20, has four goals and an assists in eight league appearances. His injury occurred in the U.S. Open Cup win against Columbus.

De Boer said Villalba isn’t where the team expected him to be in his recovery and that he definitely won’t participate in the next two games.

Villalba, 24, has one goal and three assists in 11 appearances. His injury occurred in a league game at Red Bulls on May 19.
