“I think I’m more glad now just that it’s over with. Now we can move on and not have to worry about that question any more. But it’s definitely a huge honor. … I think I’m just lucky enough to have played four years here. That’s the biggest thing. You’ve got to play for a significant amount of time, and I’ve had that opportunity here. I’ve played in a great offense that really allows me to throw the ball around and make plays with great running backs and great receivers. So I’ve been put in the right situation. And, yeah, it’s awesome.”

“There’s a little bit of similarity. It wasn’t a perfect match, but you can fit it up and learn from it to play Auburn. I think there will be some good carry-over from what happened today. With a young team, any time you can get carry-over on consecutive weeks, it should help you.”

— Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham on Appalachian State's spread offense helping prepare Georgia for Auburn

“We always want to get him in the game. All year, we kept hoping and hoping he’d get in, and it just hasn’t happened. So I’m happy he got in there, and he did fantastic moving the guys up and down the field. … Today was just a glimpse of what’s to come.”

— Murray, who started the 50th game of his career Saturday, on backup Hutson Mason.

“Murray definitely gave us a pretty good pep talk in the third quarter. He said we were playing like crap, we weren’t playing to our full potential. We weren’t being consistent, dropping balls and false starts. We picked it up after that and went on that streak.”

— Bulldogs tailback Todd Gurley on the third-quarter speech Murray gave the offense

“Appalachian State played great, in the first half especially. They had a great plan. They had four field-goal attempts, and it could have been 14-12. The defense did a good job of forcing field goals instead of touchdowns. That was the best thing we did. In the second half, we played a whole lot better. We created some turnovers and played so many young guys, so that was great.”

— Georgia coach Mark Richt on Appalachian State

“It was just an awesome game plan. Our plan was to spread them out and hit the short passes, try and get as many first downs as we could, keep the offense off the field, and grind away at them. We had big success with that in the first half. They made some adjustments. They didn’t expect that score to be what it was at halftime, so I’m sure some of their leaders stepped up and said some things during halftime and got them pumped up. They came out fighting in the second half.”

— Appalachian State wide receiver Andrew Peacock

“Georgia does a great job offensively. They run the ball really well, and so as a defense you are trying to get a lot of hats around the ball. If you don’t do that, then they will just kill you at running the ball.”

— Appalachian State coach Scott Satterfield on the Bulldogs
