Seeded for the first time in a major, Christopher Eubanks defeated Soonwoo Kwon Monday in the first round of the U.S. Open.

The former Westlake High and Georgia Tech player, seeded 28th, won 6-3, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 to advance to the second round of a Grand Slam event for the third time this year. Eubanks gained the attention of tennis fans world wide with his impressive run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals in July.
