The Atlanta Falcons signed former Florida running back Kelvin Taylor on Tuesday.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn told media Taylor had a good workout on Tuesday morning and the running back was leaner that Quinn remembered from when the two met last year.

“In the workout, he moved good and caught the ball well,” Quinn said. “He did enough to even get a few reps in practice today. He had some familiarity with the system here based on the system he had been in. That part helped him get caught up a little bit.”

Taylor— who wore No. 38 during the Falcons Tuesday practice— rushed for 2,108 yards and 23 touchdowns and received for 150 yards in three seasons at Florida.

Quinn said he will evaluate Taylor’s progress after practice on Wednesday and if Taylor will play in the Falcons exhibition game on Thursday against the Miami Dolphins.

"(If we) have some plays that we would feel comfortable with him, we’ll let him do it,” Quinn said.

With Taylor, the Falcons have six running backs and two fullbacks on the roster.

Taylor was selected in the 2016 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers and spent last season on the team's practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster.

The 5-foot-10, 205 pound running back also spent time on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad last season after being released from the 49ers mid-season. After being released by the Seahawks, Taylor was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs on May 6, but was later released on May 9.

Taylor is the son of Fred Taylor, a former running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots. In the eldest Taylor’s 13-year NFL career, he recorded 11,695 rushing yards and 66 touchdowns.
