Amanda Weir, who graduated from Gwinnett's Brookwood High School, was among four University of Georgia athletes to capture medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Bulldogs swimmers Weir, Chase Kalisz, Allison Schmitt, and Chantal Van Landeghem captured medals Saturday.

Schmitt and Weir were members of the 4×100-meter freestyle relay team that finished second to claim silver. Australia set world and Olympics records in the event with a time of 3:30.65, but the United States was second in an American record time of 3:31.89. Weir, 30, is the oldest woman on the U.S. women's swim team.

Van Landeghem was a member of the Canadian team that won bronze in the event.

Kalisz won a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley with a personal-best time of 4:06.75.
