Openings this week at Berkmar and Lakeside-Evans bring to 57 the number of GHSA schools that will have new football coaches this fall.

Thirty jobs have been filled, most recently Adam Clack to Parkview and Adrico Hines to Hughes. (List below.)

Hines’ move to return to the school he led to a 2022 state title as offensive coordinator opened up the Berkmar job.

Another big hire this week was Parkview’s hiring of former Milton coach Adam Clack.

Lakeside-Evans’ Steve Hibbitts was announced Tuesday as head coach at Aiken, S.C. Lakeside is coming off a 10-2 finish, its best in 2009.

Hires at Midtown and Washington in Atlanta, Sprayberry in Cobb County and at Luella are believed to be imminent, but they have not named their choices.

Coaching changes are far from finished. In recent years, the number of coaching hires has averaged about 90. There were 80 last season and 105 the season before. There are 415 GHSA schools that play football.
