The Atlanta Tipoff Club on Friday recognized metro Atlanta’s best 40 boys and 40 best girls basketball players through the first half of the season

Grayson’s boys, Wheeler’s boys and River Ridge’s girls have four players apiece on the Tipoff Club’s list,

The River Ridge four are Kayla Cleveland, Finley Parker, Sophia Pearl and Makayla Roberson. Cleveland has committed to Georgia Southern. Pearl is going to Furman. River Ridge (18-1) is ranked No. 2 in Class 5A.

Grayson and Wheeler are 1-2 in the Class 6A boys rankings.

Grayson’s Tipoff Club honorees are Jacob Wilkins (Georgia), Amir Taylor (Kennesaw State), Kiwane Garris (Cal State Fullerton) and Caleb Holt (consensus top-five national junior prospect).

Wheeler’s four are Tylis Jordan (Ole Miss), Amare James, Colben Landrew and Kota Suttle.

The players are chosen by selection committees headed by Hebron Christian girls coach Jan Azar and Norcross boys coach Jesse McMillan.

In March, the Tipoff Club will announce Miss Georgia and Mr. Georgia basketball players of the year.
