The Seattle Mariners used the 12th overall pick in Sunday’s First-Year Player Draft on North Cobb catcher Harry Ford.

The 5-foot-10, right-handed hitter from Kennesaw is committed to Georgia Tech.

Ford becomes the fifth catcher from the state of Georgia to be selected in the first round of the last seven amateur drafts. Four catchers previously picked were: Max Pentecost (2014 - 11th overall, Blue Jays); Tyler Stephenson (2015 - 11th, Reds); Joey Bart (2018 - 2nd, Giants), and Anthony Seigler (2018-23rd, Yankees).

Ford was the second player from Georgia selected Sunday. The Washington Nationals drafted Brady House, a 6-3 infield prospect out of Winder, with the 11th pick.
