Week 10 will be relatively light in the volume of total games with just 21 matchups. 19 of the 21 games will be region battles and two games will take place on Thursday and one is slated for Saturday, leaving just 18 Friday night matchups and 16 region games on Friday.

In Region 1, Thomas County Central will look to remain perfect in region play on the road against Cairo. A win by the Yellow Jackets would put them in the driver’s seat as they close out the season with Bainbridge and Dougherty. Bainbridge is also undefeated in region play and will host Westover and Dougherty is set to host Monroe. Westover and Monroe are both 0-2 in region play and will need wins on Friday to keep their playoff aspirations alive.

In Region 2, Carver-Columbus is at the top of the standings, but Hardaway could be able to force a tie-breaker situation if they can defeat the Tigers in next week’s season finale and then score a win over LaGrange in their own season finale. Hardaway, Troup and LaGrange are all currently at one loss in region play so a logjam can be expected. This week, Carver-Columbus will be visiting Columbus. Hardaway’s lone region loss came to Troup, which is off this week.

Region 3 will have a major spotlight on it this week. No. 3 Benedictine will host a 7-1 New Hampstead team and the winner will likely be the top seed. Benedictine has Islands and New Hampstead has Jenkins in its finale. Jenkins and Islands, meanwhile will play this Friday night in a game that will likely determine who wins the No. 3 seed.

In Region 4, there is a major top 10 showdown between No. 9 Baldwin and No. 6 Spalding. Both teams remain unbeaten in region play, but Baldwin still has No. 7 ranked Perry on its schedule and Spalding has Westside-Macon and Howard.

Fayette County and Mt. Zion-Jonesboro kickoff Region 5 on Thursday and Riverdale hosts Hampton in the lone Friday matchup as Luella, McDonough and North Clayton are off on their bye weeks.

In Region 6, Mays has a massive showdown at Miller Grove and Stephenson will look for a much-needed win against No. 2 ranked Marist. Stephenson has already dropped region games to Miller Grove and Mays and they will close out their season on Oct. 28 against Hapeville Charter.

There are no region games in Region 7 this weekend and the biggest games to watch for in Region 8 will be Cedar Shoals at North Oconee and Jefferson at Chestatee. Regardless of whether or not North Oconee and Jefferson win this week, they are still destined to face off in a de facto region championship game on Oct. 29 at Jefferson.
