There are just two weeks of the regular season left and this blog will breakdown all the remaining games, in addition to what is at stake in each of the remaining matchups and what the potential outcomes will be. All eight regions have the current standings listed below, as well as the Week 11 matchups in and the Week 12 schedule the following week.

REGION 1 STANDINGS

(5-3, 3-0) Bainbridge

(7-1, 2-1) Dougherty

(5-3, 2-1) Thomas County Central

(4-3, 2-1) Cairo

(2-6, 0-3) Monroe (2-6, 0-3) Westover

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Dougherty vs. Cairo (Thursday)

Bainbridge vs. Thomas County Central

Monroe vs. Westover

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Cairo vs. Westover (Thursday)

Thomas County Central at Dougherty

Bainbridge at Monroe (Saturday)

WHAT IT MEANS: If Bainbridge defeats Thomas County Central this Friday, then it will clinch the No. 1 seed regardless of its season finale at Monroe on Nov. 6. There are three teams currently sitting at 2-1 and the big matchup this Thursday will be Dougherty and Cairo. Both of those teams have already lost to Bainbridge, Cairo has defeated Thomas County Central, but Dougherty still has to face Thomas County Central the final week. While the 2-4 seeds are still very much up for grabs, the future playoff field is set unless Cairo were to lose to Dougherty and then Westover and if Monroe is able to win this week against Westover and also close out with a win against Bainbridge that would result in a 2-3 finish.

REGION 2 STANDINGS

(8-1, 7-0) Carver-Columbus

(7-2, 6-1) Troup

(7-1, 5-1) LaGrange

(6-2, 5-1) Hardaway

(2-6, 2-4) Columbus

(2-6, 2-4) Shaw

(3-6, 2-5) Spencer

(1-8, 1-6) Kendrick

(0-10, 0-8) Jordan

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Carver-Columbus vs. Hardaway

Columbus vs. Kendrick

LaGrange vs. Troup

Shaw vs. Spencer

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Columbus vs. Shaw (Thursday)

LaGrange vs. Hardaway

Carver-Columbus (BYE)

Spencer (BYE)

Kendrick (BYE)

Troup defeats Jordan by forfeit

WHAT IT MEANS: Carver-Columbus can secure the No. 1 seed with a win over Hardaway this week. Hardaway could shake things up with a win over the Tigers, but they would also need a win over LaGrange Week 12 to contend for the top seed. The most impactful game outside of Carver-Columbus and Hardaway this week will be LaGrange against Troup. Troup defeated Hardaway in overtime, so the Tigers hold that edge over Hardaway. LaGrange will square off with Hardaway Week 12 after taking on Troup this week and so LaGrange can take the No. 2 seed if they win out. No other team is capable of catching up with the top four seeds and so Carver-Columbus, Hardaway, Troup and LaGrange are guaranteed to be the four playoff teams emerging from Region 2 this season.

REGION 3 STANDINGS

(7-2, 2-0) Benedictine

(7-2, 1-1) New Hampstead

(4-4, 1-1) Jenkins

(4-4, 0-2) Islands

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Benedictine vs. Islands

Jenkins vs. New Hampstead

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Benedictine (BYE)

New Hampstead (BYE)

Jenkins (BYE)

Islands (BYE)

WHAT IT MEANS: The situation is quite simple in Region 3. Benedictine has already secured the No. 1 seed and all four teams in the region close out their seasons this week. Jenkins and New Hampstead will play for the No. 2 seed and the loser will be the No. 3 seed. Islands is going to be the No. 4 seed.

REGION 4 STANDINGS

(6-2, 5-0) Baldwin

(7-1, 3-1) Perry

(5-2, 2-1) Spalding

(4-4, 2-2) Westside-Macon

(3-5, 1-3) Howard

(3-5, 1-3) West Laurens

(1-7, 0-4) Rutland

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Perry vs. Howard

Rutland vs. West Laurens

Westside-Macon vs. Spalding

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Perry at Baldwin

Spalding vs. Howard (Thursday)

Westside-Macon at West Laurens

Rutland (BYE)

WHAT IT MEANS: Region 4 will not be settled until Week 12, but there’s still a lot at stake this weekend. Baldwin is in the driver’s seat and will be off this week ahead of its season finale with Perry. Perry will look to top Howard to set up a potential region championship with Baldwin. Spalding previously defeated Perry, but lost to Baldwin and they will take on Westside-Macon this week before closing out the year against Howard. The Jags’ own the tiebreaker with Perry, but not Baldwin so Spalding’s best case could be Baldwin taking the No. 1 seed and them sliding into the No. 2 seed with victories these next two weeks and at least one Perry loss. If Perry wins out that could force a potential three-way tie.

REGION 5 STANDINGS

(6-0-1, 4-0) Riverdale

(6-2, 4-0) Luella

(6-3, 4-1) Fayette County

(2-5, 2-3) Hampton

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Riverdale vs. Luella

Fayettte County (BYE)

Hampton vs. North Clayton (Thursday)

McDonough at Mt. Zion-Jonesboro

WHAT IT MEANS: Fayette County and Luella are set for a big-time battle this week and Riverdale will take on McDonough with a chance to set up a region championship scenario with Luella Week 12. Riverdale, Luella and Fayette County are guaranteed to get the top 3 seeds, but the next two weeks will determine the order.

REGION 6 STANDINGS

(6-1, 3-0) Marist

(6-2, 3-1) Miller Grove

(3-5, 3-1) Mays

(3-5, 1-2) Hapeville Charter

(5-3, 1-3) Stephenson

(3-6, 1-4) Arabia Mountain

(0-9, 0-1) Druid Hills

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Arabia Mountain vs. Lithonia (Thursday)

Hapeville Charter vs. Stephenson (Thursday)

Druid Hills at Chapel Hill

Marist vs. Miller Grove

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Marist vs. Mays

Miller Grove vs. Hapeville Charter (Thursday)

Stephenson (BYE)

Arabia Mountain (BYE)

Druid Hills (BYE)

WHAT IT MEANS: Stephenson and Hapeville Charter will square off on Thursday in a game that is crucial for both team’s playoff hopes. Mays is off this week and will have a matchup with Marist Week 12. Mays’ lone region loss came to Miller Grove. Miller Grove will face frontrunner Marist this week and since the Wolverines’ only region loss came to Arabia Mountain. They have the tie-breaker over Mays and Stephenson, but a loss to Marist could make their season finale with Hapeville Charter a must-win game for Miller Grove to earn the No. 2 seed.

REGION 7 STANDINGS

(6-1, 3-0) Cedartown

(5-2, 2-1) Heritage-Catoosa

(5-3, 2-1) Northwest Whitfield

(4-3, 1-2) Pickens

(4-4, 1-2) Central-Carroll

(1-7, 0-3) Ridgeland

(1-8, 0-0) Southeast Whitfield

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Central-Carroll vs. Cedartown

Heritage-Catoosa vs. Pickens

Ridgeland vs. Northwest Whitfield

Southeast Whitfield vs. East Forsyth

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

Cedartown vs. Heritage-Catoosa

Northwest Whitfield vs. Pickens

Central-Carroll vs. Ridgeland

Southeast Whitfield (BYE)

WHAT IT MEANS: Cedartown can earn the top seed and sweep the region with wins over Central-Carroll and Heritage-Catoosa. Northwest Whitfield defeated Heritage-Catoosa 22-15 and so the Bruins own the tie-breaker in that scenario. Pickens’ two losses came to Cedartown and Central-Carroll and the Dragons need one more win than Central-Carroll in the final two weeks to edge the Lions in the standings. As of now, there are five teams in the race for the four playoff seeds and these next two weeks will sort things out.

REGION 8 STANDINGS

(6-3, 5-0) North Oconee

(8-0, 4-0) Jefferson

(5-3, 2-2) Flowery Branch

(2-5, 2-3) Cedar Shoals

(4-4, 1-3) Madison County

(3-5, 1-3) Chestatee

(1-7, 0-4) East Hall

WEEK 11 SCHEDULE

Cedar Shoals vs. Clarke Central (Thursday)

East Hall vs. Madison County

Flowery Branch vs. Chestatee

Jefferson vs. North Oconee

WEEK 12 SCHEDULE

North Oconee (BYE)

Jefferson vs. Madison County

Flowery Branch vs. East Hall

Cedar Shoals vs. Chestatee (Thursday)

WHAT IT MEANS: North Oconee closes out its season on Friday at Jefferson in a true region championship game; whoever wins the game will be the No. 1 seed. Jefferson will have another game to play Week 12 against Madison County, but they have already guaranteed the No. 2 seed. If Jefferson wins against North Oconee, then North Oconee will be the No. 2 seed. Flowery Branch is in great shape to take the No. 3 seed because its only losses are to North Oconee and Jefferson and therefore own the tie-breaker over Cedar Shoals and Madison County. A win over Chestatee this week would guarantee the Falcons the No. 3 seed. Cedar Shoals and Chestatee square off Week 12 and that game could be significant for the No. 4 seed. Madison County defeated Chestatee 24-21, but lost to Cedar Shoals 27-20.
