Cartersville has called off Friday’s football game with Blessed Trinity because of students quarantined for COVID-19, Cartersville athletic director Darrell Demastus announced via Twitter on Wednesday morning.

Cartersville and Blessed Trinity will attempt to make up the game, Demastus said.

Blessed Trinity (3-0) is ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, and Cartersville (6-1) is No. 4. They are the only teams without a region loss in Region 7-5A.

The run of bad COVID luck continues for Blessed Trinity, which has shut down its own practices twice. The Titans have only seven games scheduled and don’t have a bye week available, so any makeup would entail playing twice in a week.
