The Hawks recalled backup center Onyeka Okongwu from the College Park Skyhawks, and he could soon be back in the lineup after recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in July.

The team made the announcement Thursday morning.

Aside from his injury rehab, Okongwu also had taken time away to be with family after the death of his father.

In his first game back from injury, Okongwu played for the Hawks’ G League affiliate Dec. 9, helping the team to its first win of the season.
