Davis Love III’s St. Simons Island home was destroyed by fire early Friday morning.

Glenn County fire arrived minutes after the fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. but found the home completely engulfed in flames.

No one from Love’s family was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In a statement, Love said: “While everyone in our family is saddened at the loss of our home that was filled with so much laughter and incredible memories, we're very blessed that everyone is safe and unharmed. We're very thankful to the first responders who made a valiant effort to save our home, and we're keeping things in perspective as people across our community and around the world are struggling with the current unprecedented health crisis. We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers and your respect for our privacy.”

Love is one of several professional golfers who reside at St. Simons. The 55-year old on the PGA Championship in 1997 among 21 career victories. He is also a two-time U.S. Ryder Cup captain.
