AUGUSTA — Rain didn’t spoil the start of the second round of 2025 Masters Tournament on Friday, though The Weather Channel cautions a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible in the afternoon.
Conditions were cloudy for the initial wave of groups teeing off. The sun came out later in the morning, with wind gusts, of 10 to 20 m.p.h., more noticeable than during Thursday’s first round.
Rain isn’t likely on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, April 12 (third round) — High 68 degrees; Intervals of clouds and sunshine; 5% chance of rain; winds at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
Sunday, April 13 (final round) — High 72 degrees; Mainly sunny; 2% chance of rain; winds at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Hurricane Helene damage at Augusta National Golf Club
Thousands of homes in Augusta, known as the Garden City with 200,000 residents, were damaged in September by Hurricane Helene.
Recovery on what officials estimate as $282 million in residential losses continues.
Issues occurring at Augusta National Golf Club were not clearly stated, but photos circulated of flooding in famed Rae’s Creek and extensive damage along Washington Road.
Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley said in January that “as far as the impact, the long-term impact, we have not quite as many trees as we did a year ago. As far as the golf course goes, it’s in spectacular condition. I think we had minor damage to the course, the playing surfaces themselves, but we were able to get that back in shape, but I don’t think you’re going to see any difference in the condition for the Masters this year.”
Weather during 2024 Masters Tournament
First-round morning tee times during the 2024 Masters were delayed for an hour by rain. The rest of the tournament was played under mostly sunny skies, with temperatures in the high 70s for the final round on Sunday.
Trees fall, greens flood in 2023 Masters
Inclement weather forced multiple stoppages in play during the second round of the 2023 Masters. Three trees fell near the 17th tee, forcing a suspension of play.
On Saturday, heavy rainfall flooded greens and play was again suspended.
