The PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta, moves to August in 2019.

The golf season’s final tournament will be played Aug. 19-25, 2019, at the East Lake Golf Club’s manicured grass. The move is part of the tour’s revamped 46-tournament schedule for next season, announced Tuesday.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs will feature three events, instead of four. They include the 125-player field Northern Trust in Jersey City, N.J., (Aug. 5-11); the BMW Championship in Medinah, Ill., (Aug. 12-18); and the Tour Championship of the top 30 players.

“With a lull in the sports calendar during the month of August, we’re confident this move will heighten fan engagement and media interest, and further elevate the importance of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the Tour Championship,” Tour Championship executive director Allison Fillmore said in a statement.

The East Lake golf course hosted its first Tour Championship in 1998 and became the tournament’s permanent home in 2005. The 2018 tournament takes place Sept. 18-23.
