Georgia Tech linebacker Charlie Thomas, wide receiver Kyric McGowan, quarterback Jordan Yates and defensive end Jordan Domineck all spoke with media following the Yellow Jackets’ 45-17 win over Kennesaw State Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Some of their comments:

Thomas, on his two interceptions:

“No lie, on the first interception, I kind of like didn’t remember it at first. It was like, what happened? I got a pick? Oh, wow. What really was crazy was the targeting (review). They viewed it for targeting, and I just went back out there and I was ready to play. They threw the ball, I tipped it. And then the second one was actually like it was, just go get the ball. First man up so what was going through my mind was, I’ve got to get the ball.”

McGowan on his first touchdown reception, a 4-yarder:

“I knew from the pre-snap (read), I wasn’t probably expecting to get the ball. I think it was designed actually to go to Malachi (Carter), but when the play broke down, I think both guys ran with Malachi and when I turned out, I saw the defense overflowing. That’s why I pulled up and just like last week, just glad Yates was on the same page as me and found me in the back of the end zone.”

Yates on the same play:

“We were just on the same page. Luckily, as I was rolling out, I saw the same thing he did and we both kind of made eye contact and I was like, All right, I got him and we were on the same page and I hit him.”

Yates on finding out he would be starting:

“I think I knew officially about, I want to say Wednesday or Thursday, sometime around then. I knew for sure Jeff (Sims) wasn’t going to able to go this week. But the whole week, I knew I had to prepare like I was going to start the whole time.”

Domineck, on how his touchdown play was going viral on Twitter:

“I haven’t even looked at my phone as much right now so I’m just seeing all the notifications and everything, but to hear that (Ravens quarterback) Lamar Jackson retweeted my play, that’s just an amazing thing. Just to be able to get that kind of recognition from somebody that’s so far into the game, somebody that’s on the next level that I want to be on, that we want to be on, that just makes you feel good inside.”
