Another high-profile transfer from the state of Georgia has decided to make the move to Georgia Tech.

Texas cornerback Kenyatta Watson, a four-star prospect out of Grayson High, announced his decision to transfer to Tech Monday evening on Twitter.

Watson, a redshirt freshman, had put his name into the transfer portal Oct. 5. He had played four games as a freshman in 2019, preserving his redshirt season, and played the first three games as a backup for the Longhorns this season.

Watson, listed at 6-foot-1 and 184 pounds, adds to the list of players who were highly recruited as high schoolers in the state of Georgia and signed with schools out of state before deciding to transfer to Tech, recruited by coach Geoff Collins. The others are safety Derrik Allen (Notre Dame), defensive end Antonneous Clayton (Florida), wide receiver Marquez Ezzard (Miami) and cornerback Myles Sims (Michigan).

Depending on his ability to receive an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA, Watson could have four seasons of eligibility starting next fall, as all fall-sports athletes have been granted an extra season of eligibility becasue of their seasons being compromised by COVID-19.
