Three days after announcing that he was putting his name into the transfer portal, South Carolina defensive tackle Makius Scott went public his decision to transfer to Georgia Tech, tweeting out Monday that he was “coming home.”

Scott is yet another transfer who is from the state of Georgia, left to play for an out-of-state school and is now coming back to play for coach Geoff Collins at Tech. Scott was a 2020 signee to South Carolina from Gainesville High, where he was a teammate and classmate of Tech offensive tackle Jordan Williams.

Scott opted out of the season Nov. 17, having not played in a game, after the firing of coach Will Muschamp. He announced that he was putting his name in the transfer portal on Friday. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Scott certainly has the size to be able to contribute to the Yellow Jackets on the interior of the defensive line.

Scott is the second player with South Carolina ties who has offered a commitment to Tech in the wake of Muschamp’s dismissal. On Nov. 25, Mount Zion High linebacker Trenilyas Tatum committed to Tech after having previously been committed to South Carolina. Tatum, a four-star linebacker (247Sports Composite), is one of the highest-rated prospects committed to Tech for the 2021 class.

Scott follows the decisions of a number of other transfer candidates to select Tech. For this recruiting cycle, he’s the fourth, all of whom attended high school in Georgia, following cornerback Kenyatta Watson (Texas, Grayson High), guard Nick Pendley (Mississippi State, Creekview High) and linebacker Kevin Harris (Alabama, Grayson High).
