The Georgia Tech men’s basketball program received a commitment Thursday from Mouhamed Sylla, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound Senegalese center. Sylla chose Tech over Arkansas and Oregon.

“I’m not gonna lie, on my visit over there, I feel like I’m at home,” Sylla said during a 247Sports livestream after he put on Tech sunglasses and a Tech hat. “I feel like they can help me to make my dream.

“(Tech coach Damon Stoudamire) was an NBA player. I know he can get me right. I will bring everything — my energy, my blocked shots, my defense. I’m gonna bring everything I got.”

Sylla, in the 247Sports Composite rankings, is considered a three-star recruit. But 247Sports lists him as a four-star and the No. 5 center in the 2025 recruiting class. On3Sports also considers Sylla a four-star prospect.

Originally from Louga, Senegal, Sylla reportedly took a recruiting visit to Tech in October. He currently attends Bella Visa Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona, and has attended the NBA Academy Latin America in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and the SEED Academy in Senegal.

Sylla began to turn heads in July at the NCAA College Basketball Academy in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and his recruitment took off from there. Also, Kansas and Washington reportedly have been recruiting Sylla.

Sylla joins four future Jackets who signed to join the program in 2025 in guards Akai Fleming (Overtime Elite) and Eric Chatman Jr. (Pace Academy), forward Brandon Stores (Bronx, New York) and center Cole Kirouac (Overtime Elite). Kirouac originally signed with Tech for the 2024-25 season before reclassifying to Tech’s ’25 class, a class currently now ranked 16th nationally and fifth among ACC programs.

Tech also has one player committed toward the 2026 signing class in center Moustapha Diop (Overtime Elite).
