In his bid to earn a spot in the NFL, Georgia Tech safety Juanyeh Thomas made one of the big hits of the East-West Shrine Bowl on Thursday night in Las Vegas, a play that made the rounds on social media from the pre-draft showcase game.

On a third-and-goal play from the 3-yard line, West team quarterback Jack Coan (Notre Dame) threw in the left flat to running back Stanley Berryhill (Arizona). Thomas peeled off his coverage responsibilities in the end zone and made a bead for Berryhill as he raced for the pylon, driving into Berryhill with his left shoulder and knocking him backward, shy of the end zone.

On fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line, Thomas came up with a stop again. On a handoff up the middle, Thomas filled a gap and met North Carolina running back Ty Chandler in the hole along with Penn State linebacker Ellis Brooks, stopping him short of the goal line.

Tech offensive tackle Devin Cochran also took part in the Shrine game and caught notice for some of his practice work.
