Georgia Tech’s top receiver entered the transfer portal Monday, the first day the portal officially was open.
Eric Singleton Jr., a sophomore from Alexander High who had 56 catches for 754 yards (both team-highs) this season, will look to play elsewhere in 2025. On3 first reported the news Monday. Singleton posted on X: “God’s plan.”
Singleton is the team’s fastest player and also a member of the Tech track and field team. He scored just three touchdowns this season but caught at least two passes in every game. Singleton made five grabs for a season-high 106 yards in the Nov. 21 win over North Carolina State.
Singleton burst onto the scene in 2023 as a freshman with 48 catches for 614 yards and six touchdowns. The Football Writers Association of American, ESPN, On3 and 247Sports named Singleton a Freshman All-American, and he also was an honorable mentionAll-ACC selection.
Singleton’s six touchdown receptions in 2023 were the third-most by a freshman in Tech history, behind the seven by Calvin Johnson in 2004 and Ahmarean Brown in 2019.
Singleton was Tech’s second-best offensive player this season, per Pro Football Focus data.
Tech has had three receivers enter the portal in Singleton, Christian Leary and Leo Blackburn, from Westlake High. Defensive lineman Horace Lockett (also a former Westlake High standout), quarterback Zach Pyron, running back Evan Dickens and offensive linemen Corey Robinson (from Roswell High) and Jordan Brown previously announced their intentions to leave Tech.
The Yellow Jackets (7-5) face Vanderbilt (6-6) on Dec. 27 in the Birmingham Bowl.
