One of Georgia Tech’s top defensive players intends to transfer, according to reports Monday.
Romello Height, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound junior, put his name in the NCAA’s transfer portal. The Dublin High School graduate began his career at Auburn, transferred to Southern California and then played one season for the Yellow Jackets.
Height had 34 tackles this pass season for Tech. He also made an interception, led the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and had 2.5 sacks. Height was the team’s second-highest graded player, according to Pro Football Focus, with at least 400 defensive plays and the fourth best among Jackets with at least 300 snaps.
Height also had a team high 30 quarterback pressures.
Tech has now lost 11 players this offseason with the departures of wide receivers Eric Singleton Jr., Christian Leary and Leo Blackburn, offensive linemen Corey Robinson and Jordan Brown, defensive lineman Height, Horace Lockett and Uche Iloh, defensive back Taye Seymore, running back Evan Dickens and quarterback Zach Pyron.
