Georgia Tech has its quarterback for the 2022 signing class. Zach Pyron, from Pinson Valley High in Alabama and a winner of three state championships, announced his commitment to Tech on Wednesday.

Pyron previously committed to Baylor, but rescinded the commitment in September. He announced his scholarship offer from Tech on Sept. 8 and made a visit to Tech for its game against North Carolina at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sept. 25 and then made a second visit Saturday for the Yellow Jackets’ game against Pitt at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Pyron is a three-star prospect rated the No. 33 quarterback in the country (247Sports Composite). Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Kansas State are among schools that also made scholarship offers to Pyron. Coach Geoff Collins’ class for 2022 is now at 16 players, of which Pyron is the lone quarterback.

Pyron, listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, shows an accurate arm with an easy throwing motion on his highlight videos, able to complete passes from the pocket and on the run. He was one of 20 quarterbacks invited to compete this summer in the finals of Elite 11, a nationwide quarterback competition that draws many of the top prospects in the country.

Notably, Pyron will play for his fourth high-school state championship in as many seasons this fall. He won the first two at Fyffe (Ala.) High as a freshman and sophomore in Class 2A before transferring to Pinson Valley outside of Birmingham and winning a Class 6A state title in 2020.
