Georgia Tech has added depth to its tight end position with the addition of an ACC player.

J.T. Byrne, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound senior at California, announced Friday on X, formerly Twitter, that he intends to play for the Yellow Jackets in 2025. Byrne is a California native who began his career at Oregon State.

In 2023, Byrne played only 63 offensive snaps in nine games. He logged 25 plays during the 2023 season and a total of 18 over two years at Oregon State. Byrne has not caught a pass during his college career.

A graduate of Carmel (Calif.) High School, Byrne was considered a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite and reportedly had six scholarship offers from FBS programs.

Bryne joins South Carolina wide receiver Debron Gatling, Florida International wide receiver Eric Rivers, North Carolina offensive lineman Andrew Rosinski, Alabama-Birmingham defensive back Kelvin Hill and Eastern Michigan defensive back Daiquan White as players who plan to transfer to Tech for the ‘25 season.
