THREE STORYLINES

1. Can Georgia State run the ball? The Panthers rushed for a season-high 160 yards in last week's loss at Texas State. This week's opponent, Louisiana-Monroe, has given up 192.6 rushing yards per game. An ability to control the line of scrimmage, and the clock, will go a long way toward helping Georgia State win its first game this season. Plus, Travis Evans needs only 10 yards to become the school's all-time leading rusher.

2. Can Georgia State stop the run? They haven't been able to all season. Every opponent has rushed for at least 105 yards, and three have rushed for at least 245. The Warhawks have averaged 115.9 rushing yards per game. If the Panthers can clean up some of the issues they have had with gap discipline, their performance should improve.

3. Will Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning play? This could be a game-changer either way. Browning, the Sun Belt's preseason player of the year, was cleared by doctors to return earlier this week. Will coach Todd Berry choose to use him after not having played the previous four weeks. Berry said he's not worried about Browning handling the mental aspect of playing.

MATCHUP TO WATCH

Georgia State QB Ronnie Bell vs. Louisiana-Monroe S Isaiah Newsome. Newsome has returned two interceptions for touchdowns this season. Both came in a win against Texas State. He has four interceptions this season, and Bell has thrown five interceptions. Panthers coach Trent Miles said he doesn't usually game-plan for specific players.
