ATHENS — Georgia quarterback Jaden Rashada is entering the transfer portal, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Rashada transferred from Arizona State ahead of the 2024 season. He did not appear in a game this season for the Bulldogs and was the fourth-string quarterback for much of the season.
Rashada, who will have three years of eligibility remaining, originally signed with Florida as a four-star recruit in the 2023 class but never made it to campus and ultimately ended up at Arizona State.
With Rashada going elsewhere and Carson Beck entering the NFL draft, Georgia is projected to have four scholarship quarterbacks on its roster next season, including Gunner Stockton, who made his first collegiate start in the Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame, and Ryan Puglisi.
“They come in with the expectation that we’ve got to prepare like we’re the starter,” Georgia offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo said when asked about Puglisi and Rashada prior to the Sugar Bowl. “They’re getting more reps. They’ve done a nice job. I think since Day 1 to now, I don’t even know what day we’re on, you’ve seen good and bad every day. You’re seeing less bad and seeing more good, and they’ve got to prepare because you never know, knock on wood, what’s going to happen at any given moment for those guys to prepare to get ready to play.”
Behind those two, Georgia has incoming class of 2025 quarterbacks Ryan Montgomery — a four-star prospect from Ohio — and Hezekiah Millender, who played at Clarke Central in Athens.
Georgia has now had eight players announce intentions to transfer. Five have already found new homes as cornerback Julian Humphrey and outside linebacker Sam M’Pemba will head to Texas A&M, defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett signed with USC, inside linebacker Troy Bowles is headed to Michigan and safety Justyn Rhett is headed to Nebraska. Wide receivers Michael Jackson and Anthony Evans and safety Jake Pope have not found homes yet.
Georgia players have until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 7 to enter the transfer portal.
