The Georgia-Georgia Tech game was an eight-overtime thriller when it was played on a Friday during the 2024 season.

And so it will now be played on Friday in the 2025 season. The ACC announced the news on Monday night as a part of the ACC Huddle show.

In addition to being played on Friday, Nov. 28, the contest will be played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

A kickoff time and TV network will be announced at a later date. Unlike the 2024 game, Georgia Tech will not be at a rest advantage. The Yellow Jackets had two extra days to prepare for Georgia prior to the 2024 game in Athens.

Georgia rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit to beat Georgia Tech 44-42 in eight overtimes.

After the game, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was very complimentary of Brent Key and what he had built at Georgia Tech.

“Just a lot of respect for Brent, his staff, his team,” Smart said. “I thought they played really physical. We thought they would, and they did. I thought they won the line of scrimmage, especially in the first half. And their quarterback did a great job.”

While many of the heroes from the Georgia win are gone, including quarterback Carson Beck and safety Dan Jackson, the Yellow Jackets bring back quarterback Haynes King. He threw for 303 yards, ran for 110 yards and accounted for 5 touchdowns.

Georgia has won seven consecutive games against the rival Yellow Jackets, with Georgia Tech’s last win in the series coming back in 2016.

The last time Georgia lost to Georgia Tech in Atlanta came back in 1999.

The game against Georgia Tech is one of two neutral-site games Georgia will play in 2025, as the Bulldogs will face Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

Georgia Tech is the lone Power 4 non-conference foe in 2025, as the Bulldogs also face Marshall, Austin Peay and Charlotte.

Georgia opens the 2025 season against Marshall on Aug. 30. The game will be played in Athens.
