Former Georgia Southern running back Matt Breida received some national attention on Wednesday morning on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.”

Breida, a current running back for the San Francisco 49ers, was discussed in GMFB’s “Underappreciated Storyline” segment.

In three seasons at Georgia Souther, Breida racked up 3,740 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns. Breida also led the FBS in yards per carry in 2014 and 2015.

GMFB’s Peter Schrager said the most appealing thing about Breida was his work ethic, even when those around him didn’t believe he could play on the next level.

Breida wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, but at Georgia Southern’s Pro Day, the 5-11, 190 pound running back recorded a 42-inch vertical, bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times and clocked a 4.36 40-yard dash.

Since April when Breida signed an undrafted free agent deal with the 49ers, he’s earned the No. 2 running back spot and has recorded 46 rushing yards on eight carries and one reception for three yards.
