Former Georgia standout Andrew Thomas, a three-year starter on the offensive line from Pace Academy, is a solid NFL prospect, according to ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper.

“In terms of Thomas, (he needs) just a little bit more technique work,” Kiper said on a conference call Wednesday. “I think he’s grading out at seventh or maybe eighth to Arizona or maybe 10th to Cleveland. But I have him (going) 18th to Miami. He’s dropped a little bit. He needs some technique work.”

Thomas, who’s 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, was the winner of the SEC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy, UGA’s first recipient of the award in 21 years. He was an All-SEC first-team selection by the coaches and the Associated Press.

“He needs to improve just a bit,” Kiper said. “He’s a hard worker and gives you everything that he has. He’s going to get better and better. The ceiling is high enough to where he could be a mid-first rounder and at worst, a late first-round pick.”
