Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Deion Jones both worked off to the side with the training staff as the rehab from foot injuries during the first day of training camp on Monday.

Both players didn’t not work out during the offseason program, but the injuries were not serious enough for the Falcons to put them on the physically unable to perform list.

Deion Jones signed a contract extension with the team last week. Julio Jones also is set to receive a contract extension from the team.

“(Julio Jones) not going today was not a result of any contract,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “Let’s get that clear.”

Both moves were injury related

“He and Deion are still working, coming off of foot injuries, both of them,” Quinn said. “We are going to do, like we do with all players, treat them and take great care of them.

“As the practices go, we’ll ramp them up into the spaces that we need to. When they are getting closer, they’ll get more.”
