Flowery Branch - Quarterback Matt Ryan, who missed practice Monday with an undisclosed illness, was back on the practice field Wednesday.

“I wasn’t feeling well,” Ryan said. “Smitty sent me home. I got some rest and was back at work yesterday, feeling fine.”

Ryan has a reputation for studying hard in the film room and for not missing practice. He played in all 17 games last season. To catch up on what he missed Monday, he went to team headquarters Tuesday, the player’s off-day.

When Ryan arrived at work Monday, Smith had to twist his arm to make him go home.

“We both kind of figured that it was best,” Ryan said. “I got some rest and got back after it yesterday.”
