Bond set for Falcons’ Moore over simple battery charge

Falcons safety William Moore, who was charged with simple battery on Thursday, was granted a $2,500 bond during his first appearance before a Fulton County magistrate judge Friday morning.

Moore was in court at the 9 a.m. hearing at the jail, according to Fulton County police spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan. She said Moore would be able to leave jail Friday after posting bond.

Moore, who recently re-signed with the team after playing in his first Pro Bowl, was arrested and charged with simple battery Thursday, according to Fulton County Jail Records.

Few details were immediately available about the arrest.

Police said the Falcons safety was involved in an argument with a woman on 9th Street in northwest Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News. Police said they were told that Moore, 27, threw the woman’s phone on the ground and grabbed her shoulder during the dispute, according to Channel 2.

“We are aware of the situation involving William Moore and are in the process of gathering more information,” a Falcons spokesman said in a statement released to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time.”

The Falcons reached a five-year, $30 million deal with Moore on March 9. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Last season, Moore had 105 tackles and four interceptions and went to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
