Wide receiver Julio Jones was not at the opening of the Atlanta Falcons' mandatory minicamp Tuesday in Flowery Branch, but did work out with his summer training pal, Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Jones is in the background of an Instagram story Owens posted as the two were set to hit the field.

The Falcons announced Jones' decision to miss camp Monday evening.

The Falcons were expecting Jones to take part in the entire offseason program, but Jones apparently chose to work on his own, often with Owens.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, early in the OTAs, said he has been in contact with Jones.

“He’s in great shape,” Quinn said. “He’s spending some time this offseason working on some of the things that he’s not even been able to over the last offseasons because of some injuries. But, I’ll keep the conversations that he and I had private.”

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff reiterated Monday that the team was in contact with Jones, adding “We have much respect for him and what he means to our team, our city and our fans.”
