Monday's win was Bobby Cox's 2,000th as Braves manager, making him the fourth to reach that standard with one team. He also had 355 wins as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, and ranked fourth before Tuesday in all-time wins with 2,355 in 28 seasons.
Tony La Russa was third with 2,492 in 32 seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland and St. Louis.
Cox was honored on the field Tuesday. He spoke briefly over the stadium PA system, thanking team officials, the fans and his players. He was presented with a framed replica of a "2,000th Braves win" flag that now flies below the Braves flag above the right-center field bleachers.
"Just another notch in his Hall of Fame belt," said Chipper Jones, who hit a two-run homer Monday, his third in two days, to help the only major-league manager he has played for reach another milestone.
"He's the best there is, and we're all happy for him," Jones said.
