QB CORNER: Matt Ryan on the Packers

Dec 7, 2013

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan hopes to carry the team to its second consecutive victory after winning 34-31 in overtime against Buffalo last week.

The Falcons, who improved to 3-9, have not won back-to-back games this season. They hope to put a dent in Green Bay’s playoff plans.

Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Q: Do you plan to wear gloves in the cold?

A: No. I've played plenty of games in the cold. I went to school in Boston. I'm familiar with being out there and how you have to handle it. I don't wear a glove on my throwing hand. I'll be ready to go.

Q: How’s your old college teammate B.J. Raji doing for the Packers?

A: B.J. is doing well. He is physical and athletic for a big guy as anybody in this league. I know it. I've played basketball with him at (Boston College). He was a great teammate during my time at Boston College, and so it's great to see him doing well.

Q: How are the Packers safeties, Morgan Burnett and M.D. Jennings, playing on the back end of their defense?

A: Their safeties do a good job of coming into the box for support against the run game. But also they come down and play a lot of man-to-man coverage in first- and second-down situations. Then they put their safeties high in a lot of third-down situations. It's a good combination of run defenders and pass defenders in their secondary.
